  2. Good teachers, students, and classes are all committed to each other. They will work hard to do their own job, but they will also make sure that their students/classmates understand the concepts and work hard on their jobs as well. I expect to work hard in this class and to earn an A. I expect Mrs. Smith to teach the material so everyone understands it, and also to be there when a student needs help. I expect the class to be respectful of each other and to help each other as much as possible.

  3. Good teachers, students, and classes embody respect for one another as the main principle in learning. I think we all need to have respect for others ideas and accept others always. A good teacher has humorous, nice but also encouraging for us to do our work and get things done. The expectations I have for myself is to do my best and try my hardest at all times. I expect our class to treat each other well and become friends. I expect that Smith will help me as much as she can so I can learn.

  5. Good teachers, students, and classes all rely on each other. The students rely on the teacher to teach the material well so they understand, the classmates rely on each other to focus and work hard so they in turn can do the same without distractions, and the teachers rely on the students to understand the concepts and turn in their assignments. Without this trust the class wouldn’t be successful. I expect Mrs. Smith to teach the material well and make sure that I and my classmates understand it. I also expect the class to be respectful of each other and to trust each other. If everyone does what I expect of them, we should all be able to rely on each other and be successful in English this year.

  6. Good teachers, students, and classes all take a part in creating a good environment at school. I think good teachers should have a good way to portray their message to their students. Students should be able to receive that message and utilize it in their daily lives. Together, it creates a learning environment. My expectations this year in Language Arts is that Smith has a good and different approach at teaching the subjects. I expect that I will pertain the information and use it in my writing. My expectations for this class is that all of us are able to cooperate and we can create a learning classroom where everybody helps eachother out.

  7. Good teachers, students, and classes all care for and support each other. They encourage each other to do their best and to strive for good grades. My expectations of myself are high; I want to learn as much as I can, grow as a reader and writer, and earn good grades by doing this. I will do the very best I can on every assignment I am given. I expect Ms. Smith to assist me in these goals. She can do this by challenging me to ensure that I am learning, but not pushing me too far so that it would not be possible to learn. I hope that she can make this class enjoyable at the same time. I expect that this class and the students in it will help each other when they need it and care for one another.

  8. Good teachers are willing to listen to and understand any or all problems students are having. Good students ask for help and participate in class. Good classes embody respect and a love for learning. Everyone is excited to help others and aren’t afraid to ask for help. I expect myself to participate and be willing to speak up and contribute to discussions. I expect Smith to be fair and help me understand the material we’re learning. Finally, I expect this class to be fun but educational and help me better understand the world and the people in it.

  10. Good teachers, students, and classes help one another and are able to rely on one another. Each student should feel comfortable and should be able to walk up to a classmate, or the teacher and ask for help. Each student and teacher should also be responsible for the other people in the class. The reason for this, well, Warriors care for one another. My expectations of myself are that, I will always try my hardest. I always turn in homework on time, and I am open to helping my classmates with their projects as well. I also expect certain things of Smith. I expect that she tries her hardest to educate us on everything that we need to know. I also expect that when we have questions, she is there to answer them and explain to us the ideas we may have missed. And finally, I expect that this class is always there to help me, just as I am always there to help them.

    1. I completely agree with your comment that we need to feel comfortable. That is a huge factor in a class.

  11. Good teachers push you and make you better. They turn a class into something fun and interesting that stretches you to your limits. A good teacher can only take you so far, however. A student needs to focus and work hard; they must be as committed to their own success as their teachers are. Good classes are ones that both make you think deeply and creatively. They keep you interested in learning. When all three of the above components meet, the student is sure to achieve great things.
I expect myself to do my very best; to go outside of my "safe zone" and grow. Ms.Smith seems to push the envelope as well; I expect her to make me better both as a writer, thinker, and computer user. As a class, I expect us to have good discussions, be open, and help each other improve.

  12. Good teachers, students, and classes, all know how to communicate and understand the other one just as good as themselves. They all operate on the same page and are aware of what’s going on. A good class, is good teachers and students, who know each other and know how to communicate. Expectations for myself are that I actually give one hundred and ten percent every assignment all the time, instead of just doing it because I can and getting a grade and making the grade a bigger deal than the effort given. My expectations from Ms. Smith is to try and be patient, and encouraging, because if I don’t get something the first time, I can get a little frustrated and it might affect my morale so that the work that’s turned in isn't at the full potential. With patience and encouragement, I could learn to calm down and not take a mess up so hard. As a class, I expect to have fun, and learn a lot together and be able to work in a positive environment, so that work is a lot easier to get done and the quality of work can be a lot higher. I also expect that when it’s work time, people are working and not bugging each other.

  13. Good students, teachers, and classes embody optimism, a courageous undying motivation that encourages not only themselves, but others around them to never give up whatever the challenge. This positive attitude towards life and numerous other things creates a comfortable atmosphere for others around them. Generosity, creativity, and bravery all make up a good teacher, student and class.
My expectations of this class and of Mrs. Smith is to provide support, help, and enlightening directions during the school year, also new information to grow as a writer and as a reader.

  14. Good qualities in a student are the ability to listen, give good thoughts to discussions, and push classmates to work hard but to also support them as well. I think to effectively learn and to get the most out of a class, involves being able to listen to others as well as to listen to the material you're learning about. While students should listen during discussions I think a they should also be able to add helpful input. During discussions don't mess around and be serious about what you're learning and talking about. As a classmate I want to push my classmates to the best of their ability. But when I push them or when someone else is pushing you, I think there has to be a limit. You can push someone and motivate them, but you shouldn't be rude about it. Don't call someone stupid or put them down. That won't help them become a better student/learner. Good qualities in a teacher consist of teaching the material well, pushing students to the best of their ability, and grade papers efficiently. If the teachers aren’t teaching us the material well and thoroughly, how can we expect to learn and change the world. A teacher, just like a fellow classmate, should push the student to work hard and challenge themselves daily. “The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.”-Mark Twain. In order to get where we want to be in life we will have to push ourselves and our teachers will also have to push us. Not because they want us to fail or do poorly but because they should know our capabilities and how hard they should push us so we can still be successful. As a teacher, you should also be able to grade papers efficiently, update the grade books, and pass back papers. One of the easiest ways to grow as a student is to learn from our mistakes. But, if we never get our papers back to see our mistakes, how can we assure ourselves we will improve? I think the ideal teacher and student possess many of the same qualities. I expect myself to grow as a student and to push myself so that I can be the best I can be. I want to push myself because if I don’t, I won’t achieve the results I would like to see. I expect Ms.Smith to teach us the material well so that we have a good understanding and to help us see why we can change the world. I also expect her to be there when a student needs her. I expect the class to be respectful of one another and to make everyone else a better thinker and a better student.

    1. I totally agree, listening is a key part of learning, failing at listening often leads to failing at learning. Participation is also a huge part because it helps you to make connections in your brain.

  15. Good teachers, students, and classes must embody a certain set of qualities which keeps the learning experience fluid and easy. These qualities include a respect for one another, a passion for education, motivation, effort, communication, and dedication. I expect myself to be attentive and produce quality work. I expect Smith to be willing to help me and also push me to be a better student, while the class is a friendly and comfortable environment.

  16. I believe that good classes must work as if they were a family. The students and teacher must contribute to the class like you would any other family. Families take a lot of work, such as the ability to trust each other. A good class is supported by each and every member, teacher included. If one person falls behind, the whole class falls behind with them. I expect myself to work as hard as I can and put my best forward. I will include others in discussions and offer my help whenever it is needed, even if it is not asked for. I expect Ms. Smith to do her best when teaching us by explaining things as elaborately as we need. I expect her to help me, as well as my peers, whenever we need it by either through the computer or face to face. I expect my peers to respect me and my opinions since I will do the same to them, even if we disagree on several things. I will treat my classmates well and expect them to do the same in return. I expect everyone to help each other become both better people and better students.

    1. I really like that comparison! I agree that it takes a while for the class to get comfortable with the teacher and one another and that respect and trust are two of the most important parts of a classroom and a family.

  17. Qualities that good teachers, classes and students embody are embracing learning, hard work and focus. Specifically, teachers should focus on connecting with students, and should work on a students ability to try. Too many students have low standards for education, and do not try, or even worse, do not pay attention. If a teacher sparks a student's interest and learning, they will start learning and trying. Teaching in an unconventional way will also help students to actually care about a class. A class should work on sharpening each other, and helping each other to understand in a way that only a fellow student could understand. Classes should work on a group policy of success. Not success in grades, but success in learning. I agree with Jordan C. Students respond well to humor and should all respect each other, because a students yearning to learn can be crushed by being too scared to ask questions. A good student should advocate for themselves, be on top of learning and focus on responsibilities. For my set of expectations, I expect Mrs. Smith to wow us everyday she teaches, and to turn us into scholarly, thoughtful people. For my class I expect courtesy and respect. We should all help each other, and be friendly. For me, even though grades are not everything, I expect myself to get an A or above. I expect myself to be responsible, and do my job of learning.

  18. Good teachers, students, and classes act as a family. They encourage each other to do their best and to work hard to reach their goals, while creating a comfortable and friendly environment so that everyone can reach their maximum potential. I expect myself to turn in all assignments on their due date along with earning an “A” at the end of the semester, and eventually at the end of the year. I expect Smith to teach the material in a way that helps students to understand what is going on and that engages all students so that they are interested in learning the new material.
I expect our class to be friendly, helpful, and engaged in class while also having a bunch of fun!

    1. Good teachers and good students should share a lot of similar qualities. Both should be responsible and respectful. Students should be open to learning new things ad be willing to share what they have learned with others. Both teachers and students are responsible for helping others. This is a very important thing for students who really understand the subject. In this way both need to be generous with their time and talents. A really good quality for a teacher to have is to be open to new concepts, new ideas, and be willing to learn something new from their student(s).
I expect my class to be fun and exciting. I love to learn so I'm excited to have new concepts introduced to me. I know that the class will really make me think and I hope that my classmates will be really fun to work with. I am expecting this year to be challenging but I am up for it and really want to push myself. I expect myself to grow very much academically and even more so in character.
Mrs.Smith seems like a really good teacher for me. Even though I am not a visual learner, I do think that the visual keys will be helpful. I expect Mrs.Smith to be fun and funny but also very hard. I don't think she's the type of teacher to hesitate to push students a lot. I also expect Mrs.Smith to be very understanding and considerate. She seems very kind and I hope that carries on with her through the entire year.

  19. Good classrooms, students, and teachers, work well together by being enthusiastic and by communicating with one another. The more we all get to know each other the more we will talk and then we will become great friends while acting as an efficient classroom together. The expectations I have this year for this class run along these lines. I expect our class to work well together with a good leader. (Ms.Smith) I expect of myself to contribute to this helping as much as I can to create a good classroom as well as a happy classroom. I also expect that we will help push each other so we can become better.Good classrooms can use criticism in a respectful way in order to help their classmates instead of offending them.
This year, I believe that we will be a good classroom that interacts with each other. I say this because in the beginning of the year, (which is always awkward) we already seem to be talking to each other. I'm looking forward to an awesome and successful year with everyone in our class!

  20. I think that the qualities of good teachers, students, and classes are supportive and willing to help anyone who needs it. They recognize if someone is struggling and they try their best to give them any support and help that they need. My expectation for this year with Smith is that class will be a little more laid back, while being able to taught alot at the same time. I really like how we can contact Smith ahead of time for an extension, and she will gladly give it out. I expect to have a really good time in this class with the projects and books we will be reading. My expectations for myself are to get a good grade, and stay organized and prepared for class.

  21. In order for a class to be beneficial to all, the students and teachers have to respect one another, communicate easily, treat each other kindly, and be helpful and encouraging. More specifically, students should help one another by being willing to edit each other’s writing and provide helpful comments. Students should generally look out for each other. Teachers should have good communication so that students understand the content and feel comfortable sharing ideas.
I expect of myself enthusiasm and devotion to this class. I expect myself to stay on top of assignments and participate in discussions. I expect Smith to encourage her students and help them to have fun in English and in their learning. I expect her to address the specific learning needs of each of her students. I expect the other students in my class to be supportive and bring good ideas and questions to discussions.

  22. In order to have a good teaching environment, teachers and students have to collaborate. They have to have equal power, with the students controlling their learning, and the teacher guiding them. The students have to work together to improve the overall experience, building off of each others ideas and contribute to the collective knowledge of the class. As the old saying goes, an army is only as fast as it's slowest horse. I think the same idea applies to a class, meaning that we can only advance intellectually if we're all on the same level. A class also has to be respectfull of everyone's ideas so that everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts. I would expect myself to try my hardest and make the best writing that I can. As a member of this class I have the responsibility of contributing and giving my best work so that the class can have a better discussion over whatever subject we're studying. My expectations for a teacher would simply be to have someone who is understanding and respectful of any work I do, but still challenges me.

  23. I think one of the most important qualities a teacher possesses is that they genuinely care about each student and they connect to every student easily. Teachers and students should be able to communicate easily to each other. A good teacher takes the time to listen and continually help that student grow. Also, positive criticism is another characteristic a good teacher embodies. In return, a good student should not be afraid to ask questions and put a lot of effort into their work. Even if the student is not the smartest in the class, a good student still should work hard. In addition, a good student should get involved with the class and participate. In order to be a good class, everyone should support each other’s ideas, encourage each other, and respect everyone’s thoughts and ideas. A good class is one that is able to have fun while learning. It should be an enjoyable and pleasant atmosphere where no one will judge you. I agree with Kyle and Lauren that a class should treat each other like family. As a student, I expect to be in class on time, work as hard as I can, ask questions, and participate. I expect Mrs. Smith to help me when I am struggling and to make learning fun for us. I trust Mrs. Smith will help our class change the world! In this class, I expect that everyone will respect each other, inspire each other with their ideas, and commit to our class. I can’t wait for an awesome year with you guys! :)

  24. I believe that good teachers are willing to push students but also care and support them. Throughout the school year I think that students should work hard and want to grow not only as a student but as a person. The teacher should be willing to laugh and have fun but also be serious and help you, as a student to work hard. The class should be non judgmental and supportive of each other. The class should encourage good work habits as well as helping each other know what is going on.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Some of the most important qualities good teachers, and students should have, is to share respect for each others. Students should respect the teachers by listening to what the teacher is saying or instructing them to do. And teachers should respect what the students have to say about their writing and learning process. Also good teachers push the students to be the best that they can be each and everyday. While making it so the student isn't to intimidated to speak about his or her ideas. I expect that I'll learn allot this year in language arts, but still have fun and not dread going to language arts everyday.

  26. A society of teamwork, respect, and an ability to feel as a family are great qualities. These are the qualities that good classes contain. Listening skills, kindness, and the ability to see into others and help grow their talent are good qualities that teachers embody. Listening ears, participation, respect, and compassion for their learning are qualities that students should have . These are simple qualities that good teachers, students, and classes contain, but what I expect from me is to go the extra mile and do what’s right at the right time and follow these guidelines to become a great student in a great class. The first day I was a bit worried and I didn’t think of any expectations except the ability to teach and learn. After I walked out of that class, I felt like the qualities and expectations of this class and Mrs. Smith couldn’t be beat. If we can accomplish our goals. Survive through the pushing to the edge and stepping out of our comfort zone. Eventually we will succeed to become great English students as well as people who changed the world.

  27. A good teacher should be understanding, should want to help you and work with you, and should care about their students and their student's futures. Good students should want to succeed, they should participate and ask questions when they’re confused and they should care about their grades and how they affect their future. What makes a good class environment would be when you and the class are a community and all support and help each other. To me a classroom that I would want to be in would be one that has fun together but also talks about serious things and can have good discussions just like with friends. Expectations I have for myself are to, if I don’t get an A, at least to try to get a good grade. In middle school I didn't really like language arts and I didn't try as hard as I could have so this year I want to try and get back into language arts and English. I hope Smith can help me learn to love writing again and I hope the class is interesting and fun not boring like most of my middle school language arts experience.

  28. Good teachers, students, and classes all need to rely and depend on each other for extra help, advice, and encouragement. It is important for us to get along and feel comfortable in our surroundings and realize that if we need help we have one another to turn to. We need to have respect for each other, meaning we need to trust and encourage each other to finish our work and stay on task while also having fun. Learning can be stressful so I expect Mrs. Smith to obtain some amount of humor in the classroom while also helping us stay focused and encouraging us to get our work done.
I expect myself to give 100% the entire year and push myself to try new things. I took Honors English because I didn’t want “easy”, I wanted a challenge; therefore, I will put forth all my knowledge and understanding of the subject towards the assignment and will not slack because it is “just another paper”. I expect Mrs. Smith to help me achieve this goal and not move on to the next project knowing I still don’t understand the material. I will try to come out of my comfort zone and make new friends with not only the students, but also with my teachers because they are there to not just teach the material, but also help me understand it.

  29. Good teachers, students and classes care about each other. Warriors always take care of one another! I expect Mrs. Smith to teach us the material the best that she can (also as creatively as she can). I expect myself to stay focused, and work hard in this class to earn an A. I expect everyone in this class to have good attitudes, and help each other out. I also expect everyone in the class to participate. The same person should never have to answer two questions in a row because nobody rose their hand. Lastly, I expect this course to help me grow in reading and writing, and make me want to go out and change the world!

  30. Good students, teachers, and classes all have a sense of unity and patience towards each other as well as kindness and willingness to help others. I expect myself to be able to keep up with the work given in class, as well as understand the prompts and new literary tools, and I expect Mrs. Smith to be patient and understanding when I am unable to understand something or need extra help with a literary concept. Lastly I expect the class to support one another and work hard and stay focused throughout the entire year so that everyone has a chance to learn and grow into better readers and writers this year.

  31. Teachers, Students, and Classes all have to work together for it to run smoothly, or things will start to fall apart. A student has to be willing to learn and want to learn every single day or they will learn nothing, and a teacher needs to want to teach and give the student all the tools they need to learn. A class needs to work as a group and be willing to help one another. Also, my expectations for the class this semseter incldue: that we will help one another, make sure we are all on the same page, make friends with everybody, and care for one another. I want our class to become its own community!

  32. Good students are willing to struggle and do their best no matter how hard the task may be so their growth is significant. Quality teachers are always willing and eager to help. They have a lot patience and do everything they can to help the students have a year that is as painless as possible and encourage them throughout their growth. The classroom is full of students that take care of one another and help others to problem solve. This whole system reminds me of a small town. The students are the children, the teachers are the parents, and the classroom is the entire community united together to create something wonderful and something that has the potential to change the world, just like our English class.

  33. Students, teachers, and classes all have to work together be mutually understood to be productive and effective. A student must have the quality of respect to their peers and teacher. I expect the class to work together and get along. I expect myself to work harder than I have in past years and achieve all of my goals throughout the year. I expect Mrs. Smith to give the students a good combination of responsibility and freedom. With all of these aspects in place I expect the year to go well.

  34. Good teachers, students, and classes all show respect to one another and value each others opinions. Teachers and students both should work hard and always striving to grow. The expectations I have for myself during the school year are to always give my all into what I am doing, work hard, and grow as a writer and reader. I also am striving to get an A this year in English. The expectations I have for my teacher is to help me to think critically and be open to helping me if I am confused or need a little extra help. I also think it is very important for a teacher to push their students so the student can learn more. The expectations I have for the class is to be respectful and supportive of everyone in class.

  35. Qualities found in a good teacher include but are not limited to flexibility, a strong class presence, and the quality of being a motivator. During past school experiences teachers who are inflexible in assignments are very detrimental because many students push their schedule to the max and can barely accomplish a short deadline. For example, on Wednesdays Football and Civil Air Patrol disallow me from getting home before ten at night. Without, a strong class presence the entire order of the class is lost and so is learning. Also, a teacher who discourages students is detrimental to any student. Students and class embody qualities like being open minded and respectful. There is no stupid question if the person asking is serious because they may really not know the information. If students are respectful to everyone the teacher will be able to spend more time learning. I expect maximum effort and an A. Although school is not about grades by setting this goal learning cannot possibly be avoided. Out of Ms. Smith I wish to see all of the qualities listed above because those were previous poor experiences. Out of a class the expectation is a great environment to learn. Thankfully, my many of my class mates have opinions on class environment and respect that agree with my own.

  36. Good teachers, students, and classes embody a group that can communicate and learn together efficiently. They stay alert and are determined to succeed. A good teacher not only gives information, but collects it and listens to it, so they can better understand the students. Excellent students commit to their studies and listen to each other to better themselves and others around them. A good class as a whole listens and participates so that there is a smooth, constant flow of learning. I expect to work hard and do my best at whatever I try. The things I expect from Ms. Smith is to teach in a way so that all the students will effectively learn the information. I expect that the class will respect one another as we grow and thrive.

  37. Embodied in all good students, teachers, and classrooms is the drive to put one’s best foot forward all the time and the drive to put give every last ounce of effort toward succeeding in the given subject. These qualities also make good athletes, coaches, and teams. Being a good student and/or a good athlete is a tremendous amount of work and requires one to give up other activities because they are committed to that class or that team. The commitment is what sets apart students and athletes from their peers. While others are hanging out with friends, good students are at home or at the library or with a teacher working on the paper that will set them apart. Good students give up sleep to study or to proofread multiple times so they can confirm that they gave everything they had and they are turning in the best work. Good athletes will skip going to a party to work out and stay in shape; they will study playbooks or film to know their responsibilities and where they need to improve; they will skip the junk food to make them faster, leaner, and stronger. Good teachers, on the other hand, commit to getting to know every student personally and learn where they need to improve and where they are strong. A good teacher will exploit their weaknesses make them strengths; A good teacher show this commitment to every student to step over the threshold of their door. A good classroom has a positive attitude every day, consists of camaraderie and friendship, competitiveness and willingness to help the others who struggle where one is stronger, and a good classroom has to have an excellent teacher (cannot be stressed enough).
My expectations for myself, Smith, and the class are high yet not too far fetched. I hope I can become a better student by being less lazy, not doing projects and papers the night before they are due, and to give my best work every time. I hope Smith can help me enjoy reading again, I hope she can help my writing improve greatly, and I hope she can make English my strongest subject. I expect the class to do very well. With a small size we will be like a family and we can all push and help each other.

  38. Good teachers, students, and classes embody a sense of unity.A good overall class works as one where the teacher poses any question, and the students try to answer in a well thought out answer. Both the teacher and students need to be hardworking and willing to try new things. As this upcoming year approaches, I hope to get an A in Mrs.Smith’s and grow my overall knowledge in Language Arts. This year will hopefully prepare me and my classmates for our next years in high school and beyond.I think this year will be challenging but in the end,we will achieve all of our goals.

  39. Good students, teachers, and classes all have to care and respect each other in order to form a sense of unity. We should all be true Warriors and take care of each other and do our best to help those in need. My expectation for this year is that the class and students will all be kind and willing to help each other out with whatever they need. A good class is constantly participating and answering questions in order to provide a constant flow of learning. I expect Ms. Smith to teach us the material to the best of her ability and for my classmates and I to learn them the best we can. Over the semester I expect my writing skill and overall ability to write improve a hundred percent, and even though this may be a challenging goal if we all work hard enough we can accomplish anything!

  40. Good teachers must have balance, shown in distinguishing boundaries on things such as when to be lenient and when they have to just say no. We are teenagers and as much as I’d like to say that we’re independent and can handle ourselves, sometimes that is not the case. We’re breakable and teachers must be aware of that, and understand that our emotions aren't always in check. But, there is a flip side - we have to be pushed, or else we would become stagnant. There is a time for pushing, and a time for supporting. That also is a quality that students must learn as well, to become good classmates and to create a friendly, comfortable environment that is free of judgement. Also, I believe that teachers should have a good sense of humor, or a way to make kids enjoy the class. School systems are based upon fear - fear of failing, fear of public humiliation (in front of the class) - and that is most definitely not the best motivator. Interest is, because we’ll want to know more and pursue it in our studies. So a good teacher should make learning something that the student will look forward to in their day.
I am expecting this class to hopefully rekindle some of my love for literature, because in past years, it slowly diminished due to both dull teachers and dull material. And with the laptops, I’m hoping that we will be able to accomplish more in class than before. I’m expecting a great year with Ms. Smith and my class.

  41. Exceptional students want to strive for greatness. Although bad habits and doubt get in the way naturally. We as human beings in nature get lazy and take the easy way out. The teachers job is to prevent things like this from happening with their wisdom. A good teacher recognizes when this occurs and immediately takes action in stopping this plague of procrastination. In symphony, the cooperation and partnership with the students and teachers consequently makes the class room a swell environment. So we need to start good habits now because they will be the habits we will carry out for the entire year.
With expectations in mind, I prefer that we do not sway away from what is possible, but grasp the fun education that stands before us.

  42. The qualities that good teachers, students, and classes embody is disciplined and understanding. It is important for classrooms to have discipline and respect for each other so that it is a good learning environment. Not to be blurting or chatting all class. Also to be understanding to struggles because it is important to have a class where people can ask questions, work together, and grow positively. The expectations I have for myself are quite high to be respectful and listen but also to challenge myself and to give my best in class everyday. The expectation I have for my teacher to help when I need and to help learn and understand the knowledge as best I can.

By the time they reach the halls of any education center, students are expected to strive for sky high goals. Such is especially true in the case of the English 9 Honors classroom where I have already noticed a potent desire for progress and growth, even as the charm of summer has just begun to fade. As was made apparent in the first orientation, the primary goal for the student body and staff as a whole is to radiate the ambition to simply arrive with the intention to learn. This is an expectation that we have already managed to accomplish in mere days; surely this bodes well for the future. Of course this is only the beginning. As students it is our responsibility to seek assistance when it is in our best interest and to know our limits in order to ensure that we persist beyond our abilities without straining ourselves past our limits, or to the point of a mental breakdown. A good student, similar to an employee, works for the outcome in the long run and knows that their actions will affect their future whether in the sense of their career or their personal lives. Success at work builds confidence in other areas of one’s life. Teachers may be aware of these expectations as they apply to students, but they must also guarantee that they fulfill their role and act upon their observations with the notion that students and teachers work best through collaboration in order to meet a successful end. As is necessary in any relationship, respect is a major priority from both ends. For myself, I have set indistinct expectations that are subject to change depending on how this week unfolds. Mostly, I anticipate the chance to improve my abilities as a writer and clear the summer cobwebs from my brain, and I hope to practice efficiency with minimal stress.

Should students and teachers adhere to the expectations accordingly their efforts should translate into an efficient and interactive classroom environment. Good luck to all of us!

  44. I definitely agree with Nate in the sense that we need to take care of one another as Warriors. We need each other to be the best we can be. That being said, good students, learners and teachers strive to be their best. They put in as much time as they can to put out the greatest quality work possible. This year I expect our class to strive for greatness and to use our resources to get the job done.

  45. I feel that a good teacher, student, and class should communicate. I feel like this year my class, teacher, and fellow students should all talk to each other and ask for help. I have expectations for myself to ask for help and talk to other people to make new friends in my class. My expectations for Ms. Smith is to teach me and my fellow classmates something new and make it interesting. My expectations for my class is to create a learning environment for each other that welcomes each and every one of us.

  47. A good class consists of a welcoming environment, exceptional teacher, and communication. A welcoming environment encourages students to engage in an enriching conversation or debate, encouraging others to think differently. Teaching students the necessary skills for English, the teacher also plays a part in the classroom. Communication in the classroom ensures that students will have the needed skills for the three years to come; without communication, the world wouldn't go round. This year, I expect to grow not only as a reader and writer, but as a student thanks to Mrs. Smith. I believe the classroom environment will be much like a family; we will be comfortable speaking to each other, and sharing our thoughts. I am excited for the year to come in Honors English.

  48. To teach is to share your knowledge and also create new thoughts with the class. The teacher should be willing to go the extra mile with his/her students. They have to be patient with the students because after all they have a lack of experience. The students should be expecting to work and focus, as well as have a sense of skepticism of their peers. They should have great work habits and show up on class on time. They should be participating on a regular basis. The class should be a team, and help each other when help is needed. They should have civic virtue that is directed to the teacher as well of the students. They should respect everyone and everything. I expect this out of all of my classes, especially this one.

  49. I feel that a good class must consist of a fluid relationship between the teacher and the student. This relationship starts with a understanding teacher. In order for the two groups to bond, the students must make connections, be enthusiastic about learning, and participate. I also believe that a class has to be tight knit. I find that learning with my friends and family is by far easier than learning with strangers. If you take all these qualities and put them together, a perfect class which I'm sure will happen in Ms. Smiths class this year.

  50. This coming year will be my first year of high school and like almost everyone else, I am extremely excited. But, I also have certain expectations for my classes and school life to live up to. However, whether these expectations are achievable or unrealistic is a fact that has yet to be determined.
There are certain qualities that good teachers, students, and classes should possess. A good teachers listens to the students and promote an open thought environment, within reason of course. They also encourage students to push themselves to improve in areas that a student may be uncomfortable with. They are also passionate about what they teach and excited during class. Teachers like that inspire the students to care also, and often have better chances of keeping them engaged and awake. Good students do their best to pay attention and achieve good grades. They respect the teacher by not texting or talking during class, and are inclusive of all the students (class should be a small community of sorts). Good classes are made up of both of the above mentioned students and teachers.
What I most expect to get out of English this year is improvement in my writing skills, my annotating skills, and to learn as much as I can from the books we will be reading.

  51. In an efficient class, there has to be a sense of cooperation, respect, and the willingness to work hard. Students should try and give their best , with the help of their instructor. Good teachers are those worthy of respect: they rise above the students in academics and behavior, and bring those they are teaching up to their level. They are also ready to help when their students need, but they do not do the work for them. Good students are those with character traits such as responsibility, integrity, humility, confidence, and diligence. They should help their peers learn, instead of preventing them from it. Their attitude should be one of a learner. A good student will cooperate with their teacher to get the best education possible. A good class is one that works together as a whole and builds each other up: academically and socially. Since this class is an honors class, I expect it to be challenging, so I hope to work up to the level of difficulty and still make good grades. I expect I will sometimes be stressed when big assignments are put into the picture, but I will take them as they come, and try and do my best. Feedback from students who have taken her class, and from my own short experience, I honestly expect Smith to significantly improve my english skills. All in all, I believe this year of English will be a tough one, but I will do my best and look forward to how much i will grow with the help of my classmates and my teacher.
